Anthony Hamilton at The V&A, London

Despite the likelike appearance of the sitter, this bust is based on a death mask. Dr Addington (1713-90) was a distinguished doctor who specialised in the treatment of mental illness and was asked to examine George III when he first became ill in 1788. This marble portrait was commissioned by Addington's son. It was created in 1790 by Thomas Banks (1737-1805) out of marble, made in London.
