Daoist Deity at The Royal Ontario Museum, Ontario

This Daoist deity expertly formed out of glazed earthenware originates from the 15th-16th century, in the Ming dynasty.
Female deities are often part of larger groups in Daoist sculpture. This gracious lady, whose exact identity is not known, wears rings on the thumb and index finger of her left hand. Her earlobes are pierced and must once have been adorned with bronze or silver jewellery.
