3D modely ARTMarble head of a Bearded Man at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New YorkTitle Marble head of a beaded man Artist Unknown, copy of a Greek statue of the 4th Century B.C. Date Imperial Period, 2nd century A.D. Medium Marble Dimensions Unknown Accession # 1993.342 Credit Purchase, Marguerite and Frank A. Cosgrove Jr. Fund, 1993 Since eight other Roman copies of this Greek portrait type are known, it probably represents a famous or influential figure. Although there is no evidence or identification, some scholars have suggested that the original statue portrayed the Athenian lawgiver Solon, one of the Seven Sages famed in antiquity for practical wisdom.
