Lions fighting over a boar in the Jardin des Tuileries, Paris

This is a slightly larger than life-size bronze sculpture depicting a lion and lioness fighting over the corpse of a boar. It was created between 1875 and 1882 by Auguste Cain (Paris, 1821 - Paris, 1894) and is placed on permanent display in the Jardin des Tuileries alongside many of the other animal sculptures that he is famous for (find more of his work on Scan The World!) He studied under Francois Rude, Guionnet and Pierre-Jules Mene.
