Helen of Troy at the V&A, London

In Greek mythology Helen, the daughter of the god Jupiter, was famed for her great beauty. She married Menelaus, King of Sparta, but was abducted by the Trojan prince Paris. So began the long war between the Greeks and the Trojans. Lord Byron wrote a poem about this bust, which he was in another version in version. The bust was sculpted out of marble, made in Rome by Antonio Canoba after 1812.
