Le Monument aux morts de Port-Vendres in The Jardin des Tuileries, Paris

This work by Aristide Maillol was created in 1922 and represents a Venus, seated, with an olive branch in his right hand, giving the prize to the glorious French that died for their country. It´s casted in lead and placed in the Carrousel gardens in the Tuileries near the Louvre. It´s part of a large number of Maillol's statues exposed in open air.The model was Dina Vierny, Maillol´s model for the last 10 years of his life.
