Mary Widmer-Curtat Memorial in Lausanne, Switzerland

This larger than life memorial sculpture gives homage to Mary Widmer-Curtat. The engraving on the base states "Belgium is grateful to the Swiss Hospital, 1914-1918". The bronze sculpture created in 1930 by Ernest Wijnants was made for Mary Widmer-Curtat who constituted the Swiss Committee for Belgian Refugees. Over 10 years the committee organised and looked after more than 9,000 Belgian refugees.
