In 1872, after two years of training, he continued his training at the School of Fine Arts of Paris in the workshops of François Jouffroy then of Alexandre Falguière and Henri Chapu. In 1881 he obtained his first success with the 2nd Grand Prix de Rome for Tyrtaeus singing Messeniennes. In 1883, new success with the 2nd Grand Prix de Rome for Diagoras dying of joy at the triumph of his two children winners in the Olympics.
