Figure of Buddha Shakyamuni at V&A, London

Created in the 16th Century, presumably by Nepalese Craftsmen, this sculpture depicts the Buddha 'Shakyamuni' who is an important diety in the Buddhist religion. The striking copper and gilt sculpture was then painted to produce a regal and saturated finish.
