Apollo Sculpture at V&A, London

As one of the most important and complex of the Olympian deities in classical Greek and Roman mythologies, almost all sculpture depicting Apollo are expertly carved from marble as the ideal 'kouros' (a beardless, athletic youth). This sculpture is no different in the way it depicts Apollo, the god of light and the sun, truth and prophecy, healing, plague, music and poetry, confidently standing holding in one arm a bundle of fine fabric.
