Pan at The Royal Ontario Museum, Ontario

If you were to ever question where baby satyrs came from, here is your sculpture! Pan was a satyr, a half-man, half-goat woodland god. Here, he and the goat exchange 'a tender gaze' (source; placque from The Royal Ontario Museum in Canada). This is not a scene of beastiality, but explores the nature of Roman myth.
The original of this sculpture has been shocking visitors since it was excavated from the Villa of the Papyri in Herculaneum, near Pompeii, in 1752. In the Naples Museum it was kepy in a special room with restricted access - a gabinetto segreto (secret cabinet) - together with other erotic antiquities.
