Nandi, Shiva's Sacred Bull Calf at V&A, London

Shiva is considered a great diety in Hindiusm who represents creation and destruction. The closest entity to him is his golden calf, Nandi, who he owns. Cows are considered highly valuable in Hinduism.
This stone sculpture was most likely created in the late 16-17th Century in India, and was donated to The British Museum which stays within the permanent collection there.
